NubianBlue®
Ingredients

Here we outline some of the
ingredients used in the creation of NubianBlue® skincare and haircare products. We pride
ourselves on creating combinations of ingredients that restore vigour and health
to the skin.
Algae
Algae is used to help add and maintain moisture in the skin (it often
captures moisture in the air and draws it into the skin) and increase collagen
density improving skin's elasticity.
Our red algae, gathered off the shores of the Hawaiian Islands, increases
cellular turnover and helps new cells organize more evenly, making skin more
supple and smooth.
Amino Acids
Water soluble crystalline electrolytes that link together to form proteins.
They help to build cells, repair tissue and regulate cell function.
Amino acids activate and utilize vitamins and nutrients, and carry oxygen to
cells. Most essential amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body, therefore,
they must be consumed or applied topically.
Antioxidants
Protect skin from damage by slowing down the oxidation (aging) process and
preventing free radicals (scavengers of cells in the environment) from attacking
healthy cells.
Antioxidants work synergistically, therefore it is more beneficial to use
smaller doses of several different antioxidants than a large amount of only one.
Botanicals
A vegetable blend prepared from bark, roots, and herbs, which soothes, heals
and nourishes the skin and hair.
Our plant ingredients are specifically chosen to serve various functions on
the skin: dark circles are reduced (loquat leaf), capillary walls strengthened
(arnica and horseradish), melanin evened (bearberry and mulberry), fine lines
and wrinkles diminished (echinacin), and puffiness lessened (cucumber and aloe).
Brightening Agents
Active substances that even skin tone and diminish hyper-pigmentation.
These agents are capable of blocking melanin synthesis (skin darkening effect),
inhibiting the formation of dark pigment, and reducing or even removing stains
and freckles (liquorice and mulberry root).
Enzymes
Enzymes increase cellular turnover rate and cellular division, ultimately,
helping to combat the appearance of aging and wrinkling.
Hydrolyzed Wheat Proteins
Proteins that are easily absorbed by the skin.
Lipids
Lipids are organic compounds consisting of fats and oils which are important
components in living cells.
Oils such as Quinoa and Borage consist of carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins
all of which are essential for the skin.
Lotus oil is a profound and powerful essence traditionally used for spiritual
energy, balance, and purification. Lotus oil is harvested from a small lake in
India and the oil distillation process must take place within 5 hours of
harvesting the flower.
Natural Acids
These acids are natural exfoliators which are used to remove dead skin cells
and renew the dermis.
Acids that are natural derivatives from citrus fruits(citric),
wintergreen leaves (salicylic), apples (malic), rice bran (kojic), and milk (latic).
Minerals
Inorganic compounds needed by plants and animals for enzyme creation,
metabolic processes, and proper growth and functioning.
Copper, Silver, and Gold are traditionally used as anti-bacterial agents. These
minerals are most often applied topically to fight off bacteria and fungus and
prevent scarring, inflammation and hyperpigmentation.
Vitamins
Vitamins are complex organic substances necessary for the regulation of
metabolism and the normal growth and function of cells.
Vitamins A, C and E are anti-oxidants. Vitamins which are also antioxidants make
for the best protection against free-radicals. Most vitamins cannot be
manufactured by the body and must be supplied by diet or topically.
